Alternative School Accommodation Forchheim

In Forchheim, a two-story wooden modular building was built in just 2 months and serves as a temporary and flexible solution for several schools in the area. While existing school locations are gradually being renovated and expanded, the new interim building will offer modern learning and recreation rooms over a period of around ten years.

The building consists of 28 wooden modules, all made from solid wood panels. Up to 15 rooms were created on a total of 680 square meters - including classrooms, teachers' rooms, meeting rooms, kitchens, lounge areas and the necessary technical and sanitary rooms. The flexible use of the building over the years was the main focus throughout the planning. Easily convertible partition walls enable different uses of space with a variable floor plan design with little effort - whether for school, kindergarten, or office and administrative rooms.

The equipment includes visible wooden surfaces on walls and ceilings, acoustic ceilings with additional acoustic sails to optimize sound. Underfloor heating in combination with an air heat pump ensures energy-efficient temperature control. High-quality wood-aluminum windows with electric external blinds ensure natural lighting and shading. A centrally located wooden staircase connects the two floors and fits harmoniously into the overall concept.

The project combines a sustainable, economical and functional construction method with high flexibility of use and is an example of modern construction with wooden modules.
