Sustainable wooden modular construction that grows with you.
With the Zwergenwald kindergarten in Wörgl, a modern, natural space has been created for children that optimally supports everyday life in the kindergarten. Using modular wooden construction, we have created a building that combines functionality and a feel-good atmosphere and offers plenty of space for playing and learning on around 500 m². The single-story modular building consists of 16 wooden modules and houses group, exercise and relaxation areas as well as a kitchen, the management office and team rooms. The entire building is barrier-free, including the entrance and sanitary areas.
Large floor-to-ceiling windows bring plenty of daylight into the rooms and create an open, friendly atmosphere. Glazed exposed wooden walls in the interior provide warmth and naturalness and round off the overall picture harmoniously. Tiles were used in the entrance area and in the sanitary areas, while a wooden facade characterizes the natural appearance on the outside. A green roof underlines the sustainable character of the building.
A special highlight is the outdoor area, which was designed as a natural area to match the name Dwarf Forest. Wood and natural materials as well as the direct proximity to the forest create an atmosphere that immediately attracts children.
The kindergarten is also technically equipped to a high standard. Underfloor heating, district heating and an air source heat pump, central building ventilation, wooden windows with external blinds and centrally controlled shading with wind and sun monitors ensure comfort and efficiency, while an acoustic suspended ceiling noticeably improves the room acoustics so that it remains pleasant even on brisk days.
A particular advantage of modular construction is the long-term flexibility of the building. The kindergarten is already prepared for a quick addition of another floor. All connections are available and a lift for the future upper floor has already been planned. In this way, if space requirements increase, additional space can be created in a short time, with minimal intervention and without unnecessarily burdening ongoing operations.
